Is it a legal requirement for tenants to have original copy of a lease agreement?

Is it a legal requirement for a tenant to have an original copy of a residential lease agreement ?

In other words is it required to have 2 copies of the lease and have all parties sign each - or is a photocopy for the tenant enough.
