What is the law when carrying a child in the front passenger seat of a car?

I have looked on various websites including DirectGov for the answer, my car has airbags in the rear and front of the car, is it legal or not to carry a child (8) in the front using a booster seat and seat belt?, passenger airbags can be turned off and on manually.
