What are the odds of getting into the nfl?

i've followed the nfl since i was about 5 and am now 14. i am going to start playing football in july as i currently play rugby. i have always wanted to play in the nfl, but i dont know if i can. everyone says i have the skill, especially my cousin who played high school ball with matt forte, and he endd up in the nfl. Then there are people who say that you'll never make it and stop fooling yourself. i just don't know whether to pursue my dream or give it up.
