My hanging baskets and planters have been cr@p this year - should I use a better compost?

I know that it's too late now but for next year should I invest in a better quality compost for next year?

This year I used some of the cheepest stuff that I could find!

My neighbour's baskets were miles better and he said that he used some MiracleGrow compost made specially for baskets and troughs and that that had made the difference!

Advise please!
